The themes for Franny and Zooey is trivial and messy, on going problem, similar to a hairball clogging the tub every now and then. 

The cover starts with a large lump of hair, and it expands and multiplies through the end page. It reflects the growth of complexity the topic the characters are facing. 

At the end strand of hair is left, reflecting on the lingering problem in the novel.
